    I don't think it was directly a lack of drugs and alcohol. He's been on record saying he lost his confidence to rap post-addiction, but he was talking about pre-Relapse relearning to rap. He seemed completely confident on both Relapse and Recovery (tho they have other issues lol) but I think the fanbase being split on both those albums affected his confidence more than he let on. And when drugs are a huge part of your life for so long you can have a sort of identity crisis when you get sober and are learning to live life without substances. It's like what Walon (Bubs' sponsor) said in The Wire: Getting clean's the easy part. Then comes life.

    Em went one direction with Relapse, then the other with Recovery, then hinged on nostalgia with BME and MMLP2, then released horrible side projects like Shady XV and Southpaw, and Revival was kind of a culmination of everything that had been bad about Em for the past decade lol. With Kamikaze it def felt like he was getting his confidence back and with MTBMB it seems like he finally cracked the code as to what middle-aged Em should be doing.

    No matter what you think of MMLP2 as a whole, Rhyme Or Reason is the best sample flip that em has evr rapped on.

    Marsh in the end I'm with you bro of course I want to see Em and hear what he has to say and see him perform songs off the new album. It's always a breath of fresh air to see him perform something new rather than my name is and lose yourself over and over again but in the end what I'm here for is the music. How many times am I gonna go back to watch him perform these songs and hear these interviews, I love the sway Kamikaze interview probably my favorite ever but I haven't watched it since it came out. The renegade rooftop jay performance is probably my favorite performance ever but I don't religiously watch it. It's fun at the moment and looking back on builds great memories but again the album is all that truly matters.

    Oh I think it's coming. It's not confirmed and I have no idea about this, but after 3 well recieved surprised drops Em may go for more.

    He's definitely continuing his upward trajectory and he met my expectations but putting it ahead of TES or MMLP is nonsense.

    I like the album, it's fun and doesn't try too hard and doesn't have a overly childish overtones which is want I want to see from Em nowadays. Let the man just have fun on the mic doing what he does.

    - His voice has changed due to drug abuse, aging, concerts....
    - He wants to evolve as an artist

    That's not the issue, mate. I don't mind if he claims to have insider info (we all know that's not the case anyway).
    The issue is how repetitive he gets, it gets very annoying. Plus, he's aggressive.

    Such a great album.
    Sounds amazing. Different vibes. Different flows. Incredible production. Mixed better than any other Eminem album (on par with Relapse in that regard). I'm so grateful for it.
