    sure would s--- if someone with insider info posted something about the new album from an anonymous account that no one would 100% believe and wouldn’t lose their source over..... hmmm..... yeah that’d be awful..... HOPE NO ONE DOES THAT.... ESPECIALLY SOMEONE WHOS NAME STARTS WITH A G OR X.....

    Absolutely. Surprise. Surprise is key to his appeal.

    Whilst he has written about a lot of the same topics, that's always what kept him or keeps any artist exciting is 'what will he do next?', 'how will he sound?'. If we feel we already know... it's not exciting.

    That, I think, is one of the main reasons for Revival flopping too. Other than it just being bad - everybody predicted what he was going to do, and how he was going to sound, and then he did exactly that.

    The first time I can remember with him where that was the case.

    The production and delivery were very bad at times from Recovery til Revival (and truthfully parts of Encore as well)

    Like you said though. Hes improved big time in that area from Kami and Murdered.

    I think that recovery gets a bad rap because of its singles and the 2 pop features. Like, em sounds like he's trying to show what he was going through in Going through Changes, but it gets overshadowed by songs like not afraid and love the way you lie

    Maybe i'm too tired but Em sounds the best when he has a point to make or a specific story to tell.

    When you think about it, most of the songs where he sounds off beat or is just cramming as much syllables as he can are songs where he's just rapping about nothing. Which is what most of his material consists of nowadays. Either that or rehashed old topics that don't feel genuine anymore.

    He sounds good on songs that are genuine. Talkin To Myself, Going Through Changes etc.. A lot of the stuff on Recovery actually. That's probably why I like that album so much. It's not for everyone but you can't deny that it came from a genuine place and that he actually had something to say.

    I honestly can't listen to anything after Recovery. Maybe a few songs here and there but that's about it. Every album since then I don't listen to and couldn't care less if they didn't exist.

    If you’ve noticed rap music has become nothing but advertisements in music form. Constant brand shout outs, materialistic writing & music videos. “Catchy” music instead of articulated rhythm & poetry, that’s clowned on. Is this pop music or rap?

    But kids will want to familiarise themselves with what’s on the front page Spotify playlists because that’s what the DJs rotate in the clubs that they want to pick up the girls in.

    With the repetitive nature of the sub bass, drums, melodies & cadence - they don’t have to focus to digest it, especially during this ADHD era where people can’t focus on something for more than 30 seconds without losing concentration & our brain’s subconscious is naturally receptive to familiar patterns.

    Nothing wrong with pop on it’s own. It is what it is, disposable catchy music, it serve its purpose. But I don’t want someone as talented & capable as Em to stoop to that level, he doesn’t need to & can do so much more.

    Other rappers can make decent crossovers when they stay in hip hop & make the pop star change genres but Em attempts to make pop music whenever he works with them & it ends up distasteful.
