Mar 1, 2017 doing the old pre-fame him... just read this interview (published 3 days after MMLP2 release) from Jeff Bass describing when 1st Em met him, he said: “When Marshall came into the picture, I wasn’t quite sure about his ability because I couldn’t understand what he was saying,” Bass said. “He was triple-timing, spitting rhymes. I was just trying to comprehend him. Then I started writing tracks for him. And it became apparent that he was amazing.” Sound familiar?
Mar 1, 2017 Bad guy so far and groundhog day is proof em can still rap on beat but its like he doesn't put much effort into it anymore lets see though making an album is a more in depth process than just making a quick song or single
Mar 1, 2017 I wouldn't say he triple-times or you can't understand what he's saying though. MMLP2 rapping is very clear and enjoyable for me - Rhyme or Reason, Survival, Legacy, Rap God, The Monster, Love Game... These are all crafted, enjoyable flows, to my ears. Whether he raps on beat or not... Ever, is debatable by what's meant by that I guess. As i think Eminem has always kind of created flows outside of the beat, then just found a way to make it somewhat fit the beat through speed and delivery, rather than truly riding beats or flowing over beats like most rappers do. Though I can understand some people's complaints (quite a lot of people's) as to the way he does that these days, or more often... I understand that the flows often feel even more disjointed from the music, like he's just invented something totally independently... But I still find the flows / music enjoyable tbh. I can just understand, intellectually, what people hear.
Mar 1, 2017 He is so much into the technical aspect right now that he forgot that music has to be artistically fun rather than a "how to rhyme" workshop!!
Mar 1, 2017 Always made me laugh how did em listen to Mmlp and think I know il make rhyme or reason and so far makes no sense
Mar 1, 2017 Thanks for making the point of him creating the flow outside of the beat... seems true to me.. his flows were always outstanding. While MMLP2 isn't nearly as bad as Shady XV nor Southpaw... Em was still cramming syllables.. and I remember first time listening to it was like wtf... So I disagree on MMLP2 being normal for example, here Rosenberg from Hot 97 criticizing cramming syllables (time stamp 1:45) :
