A lot of great albums come together during a short period of recording sessions. Plus I’m sure there’s material he’s worked on throughout the years, they prob just specifically buckled down into “album mode” for two months

I'm pretty sure we will get more unreleased X music, probably a couple albums.

Swizz said it's possible but he won't be apart of it unless it's a masterpiece claiming that this kind of stuff gets in the wrong peoples hands and they do stupid s--- with it
He seems like he really put a lot of work into this album if hood blues wasn't so bad I'd have a lot of confidence after reading that interview

Reading the article and I have no idea why people are mad about the two months thing. DMX dropped two classics in one year, six months apart—and this was pre-digital recording back when albums had long marketing/release cycles and CDs had to be actually printed months in advance.

Two months is more than enough time to craft an album for two people who have been working together for decades. 2pac made all eyez on me in two weeks. Kanye made 808s in a week. There’s tons of examples of artists locking in for a few weeks/months and coming out with a classic.

It might be hard to accept for some but DMX has been out of his prime for a long time. It showed on Undisputed. And Undisputed was 9 years ago.

So i'm glad Swizz again confirmed that the album was done and that he hasn't changed it because a couple people here still seem to believe that "DMX wouldn't approve of that" or that he didn't intend it to sound that way.

As a fan, it's easier to say it's his team that ruined the song or album but it's pretty clear by now that this is the project DMX wanted us to hear, whether it's good or bad.

100% facts right here I believe there is a solid chance this album won't have much or any replay value for me sadly. I'm surprised undisputed had anything worth saving at all but already and cold world are great. So at the very least hoping bath salts will be worth it I was also reading a review from the guardian and they didn't really make the album sound like it was anything special or good. Worth mentioning they kept talking about his voice being raw and desperate so I'm gonna go ahead and assume his voice on hood blues is how he'll sound on this album.

^ If the Bono song really is this one but with DMX on it, it could actually be very good.

This doesn't sound bad at all.

    They reviewed the album already?

If true about his voice then that's bad news..

I feel the same about this album and about Undisputed. I'm fully expecting not to replay this album anytime soon or it being anything close to his first 6 albums. But if there are 2-3 good songs and the rest is trash I will still be happy.

Crossing my fingers for 2 really good tracks I can still bump years from now.

Did you like "Y'all Don't Really Know" off Undisputed? I thought it was one of the better songs along with Already and Last Hope.

I just re listened to undisputed not too long ago and nothing appealed to me what so ever apart from those two songs. Everything seemed so mainstream and pop and his voice was so dull and soft compared to that vintage x voice kind of the same problem with year of the dog. The music on that was much better but his voice again wasn't the same.

I'm going to sleep earlier so I can wake up at 6am, that's when albums are released in my time zone (I guess), so we can blast this together!

Tbh I was never expecting a classic DMX in the 20s but all artists deserve their final musical send-off and I’m especially glad it’s something that he crafted 99%.

Looking forward to bumping this first thing tomorrow. I won't be able to do a live session though as I'll be working 14 hours each day for the next 3 days but looking forward to talking about it after the fact!

I was gonna say we could still blast this together later tomorrow because of your time zone like we did with Yela. Even if some of us hear it first. But looks like you planned this out already!

Hopefully it drops at midnight and not a minute later so we can all hear it at the same time.

This is interesting... So it was Swizz's idea to have more people on the album.

"The only tribute was the Moneybagg track," explains Swizz, implying that Moneybagg Yo's "Money Money Money" was pieced together posthumously. "Everything else X was present and happy for. We had a conversation, and I told him, I said, yo, I know you don't like a lot of features, but I think it's time that people should see that other people love you as well and you're respected by serious, serious artists."

"Although you're humble, although you don't really have features, let's have fun with it, come out the gate," he continues. "Then the next album, we can get back to how you want to do it, but let's have some fun. Let's give them something they can't expect. They're not expecting you and Bono. They're not expecting you and Alicia. They're not expecting you and Griselda. They're not expecting you, Jay, and Nas on one track. You know what I'm saying? They never expected an Usher with "Letter To My Son, Call Your Father," You know?"

"He just loved the idea of it, but he was a little sneaky about it because in his mind, he loved that he was able to work with them," continues Swizz. "On the other hand, he figured out it was less work for him. He really loved it. He was like, oh, I only got to do three verses? Okay, tell Lil' Wayne let's go. So that was the good, the good part, man."
