May 10, 2021I liked the Lox feature, but the singles he's tried to push the last few years have been trash. Really hope they're not just trying to milk his death and push it out with a bunch of pasted in features

If it's anything like his features since 2020 then we're in for a treat. I truly believed he'd turned his life around, that's why I'm still defeated over his death.Ordinary Joel, DKC, The Lyricvore and 2 others like this. -

Initially, yes. I've spun this about 10x now though and I really enjoy it now. Will def end up on rotation for a long while to come yet.
But...it def feels like a compilation of "??? feat DMX" apart from one or two tracks. Skyscrapers a standout highlight and I still tear up when I hear Letter to my Son.Ordinary Joel, lil uzi vert stan, Worm and 1 other person like this.Mar 9, 2026(This ad goes away when signing up) -

When talking about artists' unreleased songs, you gotta take a couple things into account:
1. When artists say they have 100 songs or whatever, that doesn't mean there are 100 completed, ready-to-go songs. It could be a beat with just a hook, a beat they liked with nothing on it yet, another artist's feature verse on a beat that the main artist didn't end up recording on, mumble demos, voice memos, a demo/rough draft recording, a freestyle, reference tracks, "complete" songs that aren't mixed or mastered (and would probably scrutinized and reworked and rerecorded if they were heading to an album)...there's so many varying states of completion here and many of them amount to basically a piece of scrap paper. Basically, things that would be cool to hear to see the process, but not something you'd be listening to more than a couple times. Like if you got a crack at Dre's vault I'm sure you'd get a bunch of, like, Slim the Mobster reference tracks lol
2. The songs that got scrapped got scrapped for a reason. I have no doubt most artists have classics hidden away in their vaults that didn't fit albums or had samples they couldn't clear...but even the greatest artists made bad songs in their prime—most of which, luckily, didn't make released albums.
There are a handful of prolific artists like Thug, Carti, Wayne who had periods where it seemed like it was impossible for them to make something bad, but these dudes are aliens and are not the norm.Ordinary Joel, CARNIFEX, debauch and 1 other person like this. -

Bath Salts is a reused 2009/2010 verse. And the chorus on Money Money Money is reused, it was actually a verse on Time to Get Paid. But the verse itself on the new song seems new, or old but unheard/unreleased. That leaves 8 tracks. Skyscrapers is just lazy. Leaked, unreleased officially, and given to X. Why not get Bono to do a new song with X, it almost feels like pure laziness. Kanye version is better anyways.
Remember when X said he got Bono? He should have elaborated LOL you mean an old song your producer did with other people, sure, yes you got him.Ordinary Joel, CARNIFEX, Wreckless and 1 other person like this. -
