Just curious if there's any other hippies such as myself who play? I threw my first round of disc golf (frisbee golf if you're an a------ and want to be scolded by the entire community for using that gross term, frolf, or as my buddy who hates it calls it 'touch butt') when I was 14...That was over 20 years ago for me, but didn't play much or take it 'seriously' until I was about 26...I've played several local tournaments (never had a first place finish but have got 2nd and 3rd and placed well enough for money payouts) and aside from the surgery and health issues I play it 4 to 5 times a week...Mostly with a pretty familiar group of my close friends I'd say 6 to ten of us, but go out often solo when I am on limited time or others are busy...Over the last ten years and especially since COVID (considered a non threat or violation to social distancing bs) it has grown in popularity and has even been broadcast on ESPN and CBS recently...Some of the top pros are earning over a million dollars a year and earning contracts and endorsements from large corporations such as Nike and Adidas...

I can't wait to be back in good enough shape to get back out and start throwing again...I've spent thousands of dollars over the years and amassed quite a collection of discs, apparel and accessories (including carts, bags to carry bags discs, range finders) so you could say I am pretty dedicated...Seems silly I'm very sure but there definitely is a degree of athleticism and skill required to be any good at it...It's free to play for the most part as the majority of courses are public and city/county owned and maintained with the help of local clubs doing a lot of volunteer work to keep the courses maintained and litter free...Though probably technically illegal in most public venues, most players will enjoy an adult beverage or 10 and enjoy some of the devil's lettuce while playing...no goofy outfits required and nearly everyone I've met through my local community are very relaxed easy going people looking to be doing something outdoors and have a good time while doing it...Music blasting out of the blue tooth speaker and good buds just hanging out with a friendly level of competition...

Was just wondering if there was any fellow frolfers on here and would like to engage in conversation about this sport I love so much...So...any spin masters out there? I've met and even played with quite a few top touring pros either through paid clinics or happenstance from them just traveling through my area on their way to ranked events...

I've introduced many people to the sport requiring no real knowledge or experience who are just as hooked as I am...highly recommend getting out there and trying it out there are courses everywhere...I live in a relatively small city (90k population) and there's 6 public courses within a half an hour drive of my house and a few courses on private land owned and operated by those within the community...Walmart even sells beginner 3 disc sets (Putter mid range and driving discs) for around 20 bucks...the prices go up from there and there's a lot of variety when it comes to style of discs and brands that produce them...I've seen single discs go for big money because of their rarity and or cool unique designs...Generally speaking, for someone looking to get more into the sport and something of higher quality then the mentioned generic cheap basic srarter discs I mentioned...Discs range from 15 to 25$ a piece depending on the brand/mold/styling of the discs...Certainly much cheaper than traditional ball golf equipment still though...

Just paid 20 for this Luna Paul McBeth tour series...a steal considering they go for 40 to 80 bucks in an online auction setting...I throw my discs though I only have a few that are bag kept and kept as valuable / collectible...this one will be thrown and be beat in soon enough...
