Apr 6, 2015 Of course I like tracks with meh lyrics but fantastic production, IYRTITL is a pretty good example, but when they start to do corny voices and s-----y flows i just can't enjoy the song. Rapping is what makes Hip Hop interesing for me.

Apr 6, 2015 Production isn't all about beats, it's about arrangement, moments, pace, and shaping the identity of a song. Doubling vocals or playing with them factors in to production too. And all the production on the last 3-4 Nas albums has been dope imo.

Apr 6, 2015 This is only an issue with hip hop though. When you think of a GOAT rapper you take into account lyricism, wordplay and deliver over anything else generally. With other genres the only divisive factor is only ever really the sound. That's what makes Hip Hop unique. It's why many people consider Kanye a producer first and a rapper second.

Apr 6, 2015 I said they are not amazing also his beat choices have been inconsistent because he goes with the beat he feels he can write too not one that is going to make a hit. Most of the time the rapper dont have a lot to do with the production side of things especially now people just send over files and s--- so your liking the producer and not the actual rapper. It also depends on what your listening to music for f your at a party then sure play your DJ mustard CD. Also Kanye is a producer first thats what he is best at and how he started. Same as Dre he is a producer first

We're judging the music, not the rapper, and there are more things in rap than the actual rapping. I thought that Kanye wasn't bad, then I listened to Blame Game and Never Let Me Down and I realised how much he sucks as a rapper

I listen to pretty much everything for the sonic qualities of a song and if there's something else there I can connect with or enjoy lyrically, great, but if not then as long as it sounds good tbh. Most of my favorite music doesn't really even have much in terms of lyrics or vocals.
