Jan 1, 2018Haha I cashed out about 1/4th and am keeping the rest in. I like my job ( self employed) so I'm just going to keep working and traveling. But if it keeps going up (which I think it will) very difficult decisions are going to have to be made haha.

Coinbase to get started. I guess Gemini is good too, but I never used it. You have to buy bitcoin first to be able to buy other cheap currencies I was saying about in the previous post. I would join Coinbase and Binance, personally. Bittrex isn’t accepting new users at the moment.Ordinary Joel, Jehovah and Sign Language like this. -

The thing that annoys me about everyone getting into cryptocurrencies now is that they look at them as an investment opportunity instead of what it's actually supposed to be -- a totally new paradigm for currency. People think there's a "bubble" because they think it's like a stock that's meant to be traded for USD.
The cool thing about having 1 BTC isn't that now you have +/- $15,000... the cool thing is that now you have 1 BTC.Ordinary Joel, dna hits and Trackz like this. -

pretty much why I haven't invested... like i know it's rly hard to do, but it's 2017 and new technology is created 10,000 times each f---ing second. I just can't bring myself to trust it, not the actual wallets or the people holding them, just don't trust the brave new world of it all, tied in with hackers looking to make quick money. It just doesn't seem like it's big enough for their to be any kind of insurance. Like if someone were to hack your bank account/paypal or something like that, there's ways to get your money back after reporting it etc.Ordinary Joel, Sign Language and Slyk like this. -

here's my list that i'm tentatively looking at to invest in + some rough notes:
ripple:
$0.27
reduce financial tx fees; backed by some banks already
medum for converting any currency into any other one without relying on a central exchange
think of it as a new paypal, where there are no (limited) fees. paypal acts as an intermediary to allow you to send money over the internet, but it's centralized and charges high fees
“enables banks to settle cross-border payments in real time, with end-to-end transparency, and at lower costs.”
siacoin:
$0.17
decentralized data storage
maidsafecoin:
$0.49
decentralized data storage
monero:
$51.69
anonymizes btc; built on privacy first
sounds like the tech & capabilities are higher than those of dash
dash:
$181.41
anonymizes btc; hsa some privacy settings built on top of the protocol
ethereum:
$390
api to build apps ontop of blockchain system
microsoft, intel, etc. backing
factom:
$31.72
similar to ethereum & btc (?)
litecoin:
$44.75
sounds similar to btc
gridcoin:
$0.08
benefits humanity by advancing the progress of medicine, biology, climatalogy, math, astrophysics, etc.
firstcoin:
