Jul 23, 2021 Since Kanye blueballed his fans once again I thought it'd be cool to make a thread that shows what the f--- is up with this project. So back in July, Director Arthur Jafa confirmed in an Instagram Interview that he worked with Kanye to s---t a video for a record called "God's Country". Later on June 26th Kanye revealed that he was "dropping" Jesus Is King II with Dr. Dre, and the music video for Wash Us In the Blood which leaked a few days before: Jesus Is King II ended up not dropping and it's basically a dead project now. So now Kanye shifted his focus to God's Country. Travis Scott was seen with a sweatshirt that was later confirmed to have the cover for the album: (Merch Mockup since the actual cover hasn't leaked) Then in July Kanye posted a tweet showing a song called "DONDA". It is not known if the album was still called God's Country at this point, but the album was scrapped when kanye posted the first tracklist: Then throught the next week Kanye went on countless twitter rants with 5 more tracklists, confirming not one but TWO movies and a different name for the album (Donda: With Child) Eventually July 24th came and nothing happened. On July 25th we got the original Donda Cover: After that Kanye went on his music industry rant and didn't say anything about Donda for month. Kanye was supposed to be on Jimmy Kimmel Live on November 4th but cancelled 2 days before. Prior to this Kanye dropped the single Nah Nah Nah which he made after seeing fake ballot results that had him at the lead. According to reliable sources Kanye believed he was actually going to win the election and was going to announce Donda at Jimmy Kimmel. But as everybody expected Kanye didn't win the election and the album was postponed again. So the rest of the year came and went with basically nothing happening besides him Executive Producing Whole Lotta Red. On January 23rd A documentary directed by Dame Dash was found on Vimeo which featured 15 snippets of 15 different songs. For the next few months Dame teased that Kanye was a part of his "Dame Dash Streaming Service" but once it came out and Kanye had nothing to do with it, Dame was ignored mainly. After that there was nothing until July 2021 when Consequence posted a video with Kanye and Tyler, the Creator that had a tracklist in the background. On July 18th Kanye hosted a listening party in Las Vegas for Donda. According to people who heard it, the album was fully finished and around 40 minutes long. Later in the week we saw the new Donda cover: Then on Tuesday the song "No Child Left Behind" was featured in a beats commercial.: Then Came July 22nd when the Atlanta Listening party happened. Interestingly 2 Chainz was photographed recording for Donda that very day: It is important to note that this is different from what was shown in Vegas for some reasons like for example, songs like Welcome to My Life that were shown in Vegas were not shown in Atlanta. So Midnight comes and like most expected the album didn't release. However some people brought up the fact that Jesus Is King did not release until noon, which was also backed up by Theophilus London Acoording to The Independent Donda is being uploaded to streaming services: Mike Dean is still mixing: Justin LABoy who confirmed that the album was finished earlier this week has said the album will still come out: Album was delayed to August 6th? Jul 23, 2021 This is what I expect. A chaotic rollout. And a last minute release. Kanye is the type to spend a long time on a project, and then get analysis paralysis. Sit on it too long, and you start to become self-conscious about it as an artist. So he just prefers to scrap albums, redo them and rush them out quick when he's in a creative mood.
Aug 11, 2022 JESUS IS KING II + GOD'S COUNTRY NOV 2019 Jesus Is King II a remix album produced by Dr. Dre is announced on twitter JUN 2020 Kanye announes the single "Wash Us In The Blood" from the now scrapped God's Country. WHAT IS GOD'S COUNTRY God's Country was the first version of Kanye's 10th studio album that he worked on from late 2019 to mid 2020. Songs were political mainly with a lot of songs that ended up on Donda. NOTABLE SONGS: Wash Us In The Blood, Tulsa, Fighting Fires. BEGGINING OF DONDA 2020 JULY 2020 In a now deleted tweet, Kanye previewed a song called "DONDA" also known as "Blood of the Lamb". Kanye proceeded to announce DONDA with a release date of July 24th 2020. This week proved to be very hard for Kanye. He went on multiple twitter rants ranging from music, his wife, Kris Jong Un and so much more. July 24th came and passed and DONDA was nowhere to be seen. Kanye did however post the cover for the album at the time AUGUST - NOVEMBER 2020 Kanye announced his single "Nah Nah Nah" on Twitter Kanye mainly went on to discuss his record label contracts and began his presidential campaign. According to trusted sources, Kanye believed he would become president and set the release date for 11/03/20. After losing he made this post Kanye has not returned to Twitter since NEW YEAR'S DAY- MARCH 2021 Kanye continued working on Donda throught the next few months. Around this time, his divorce from Kim K began and the music slowly began to change BEST DONDA 2020 SONGS: Precious, Keep My Spirit Alive, Lord I Need You, Tell The Vision DONDA V2 (SPIRITS OVER THE HORIZON) MAY 2021 This version of Donda is much different from what came before and after. For all of May and the beggining of June, Donda was soulful and seemed to bring back a lot of themes from the God's Country era. Eventually, the concept evolved into Donda V3. BEST DONDA V2 SONGS: God's Test, NASDAQ, Going 2 Jail DONDA (2021) LAS VEGAS The private Las Vegas listening party laid the groundwork for the final Donda. There were some differences like a scrapped song called Daylight, solo Jesus Lord and different versions of songs but overall, it gave us a good idea of the concept. Kanye later shared the Beats commercial with a snippet of "No Child Left Behind" ATLANTA Kanye held a listening party at Merced Benz Stadium on July 22, 2021. The album was clearly unfinished and Kanye proceeded to live in the stadium for a week to work on it Kanye then announced a second listening party at the same stadium a week later The second party showed the songs were nearly finished but still, Donda didn't drop. CHICAGO A third listening party was announced, this time set in Chicago. Besides working on the album, Kanye proceeded to beef with Drake The listening partyhad finished songs, but grew controversy due to apperances from DaBaby and Marilyn Manson. RELEASE Donda was finally released on August 29, 2019. Nearly two years after God's Country was begun. Kanye at first announced the release on his instagram Kanye grew angry after DaBaby's manager refused to clear his feature, which left "Jail Pt. 2" Unplayable for a few hours Kanye then claimed Donda was released without permisssion And, that's it.
