    A couple podcasts I'll plug:

    Hosted by standup comedian Brandon Wardell and video director Jack Wagner, it's kind of a shooting the s--- type comedy podcast but they're usually pretty prepared with stuff to talk about and cover a wide variety of topics. They also have a huge range of guests—Tim Heidecker, Thundercat, Vampire Weekend, Bill Oakley (golden-age Simpsons writer), Mark McGrath from Sugar Ray, Jamie-Lynn Sigler & Rob Iler (AJ & Meadow from The Sopranos), Chromeo, Tom Green, etc. etc. etc.

    Bill Burr is a saint! I think he's more or less addressing the people who complain and try to cancel him over things he says on twitter and his podcast. people who go to see him live should know what he's going to do. But you still get people who don't know what he's about show up to his shows and get angry at his content. He actually was under fire and people were trying to "cancel" him for his grammys award presentation this year https://www.usatoday.com/story/ente...e-ceremony-mispronunciation-jokes/4703189001/

    ya when i was watching this i was kind of thinking... ok fair enough creatively, point taken, but he essentially also is positively linking or equating historic censorship or racism-driven censorship (which were bad and regrettable) with what's going on right now (which is , supposedly, well-intentioned and good). i guess it is what it is, from his pov, people thrive when there's barriers, but this ballgame is a bit unfair, b/c cultural rules are shifting and people are getting tagged after the fact. @Donkey Kong Country

    anyways, i helped schedule this with chong's people

    Literally just watched this for the first time after always hearing about it. Idk why but I find it hard to watch s--- quality stand up but yeah this was awesome. I love chappelle his show and killing them softly and for what it's worth are amazing but he's been hit or miss to me for so long now sadly those Netflix specials were very underwhelming.

    Squigglevision was visual ASMR. Katz dry responses to the comics bits.. the launch of Jon Benjamin's voice (his hiring is a part of the permitting process to make a weekly cartoon now).

    Same thing happened with Archie Bunker in All in the Family in the 70's. Archie Bunker was written as an oafish bigot with outdated racist, homophobic and misogynist ideas... the point of the show was to show how he was wrong and the progressive liberals were right... except the actor who played Archie Bunker was Caroll o'Connor and was way more charismatic and likeable than the other characters/actors, so the audience always sided with the bigot.

    Yup that blew my mind so much in 2003—and it's honestly still sort of mindblowing today. I finally watched that documentary 6 Days to Air the other day as well.

    South Park is topical because they have a 6 day turn around from initial writing to finish product that starts a week before the premiere episode. Which is all but impossible for a live action and completely impossible for traditionally drawn cartoons.

    I'd only seen the first three seasons until I (re)watched the whole thing last year and it held up great up til the third or fourth episode of season 5 when Donald Glover leaves. Everyone said season 4 sucks because Dan Harmon wasn't involved but I honestly thought it was way better than season 5-6, the latter of which I couldn't even finish. The only thing that s----d about season 4 was the chang storyline cuz they really ran out of stuff to do with that character. Definitely a less is more character that only affected the show for the worse when he became a main cast member.

    It's really an ensemble cast and as soon as both chevy chase and donald glover were gone it was never the same. Jonathan Banks + more Dean were an OK replacement for the rest of season 5 but once yvette nicole brown left too prior to season 6 it was just pitiful.

    I remember that too—same with the South Park ep where they used those saddam pics literally like three days after it happened, I think it's the Christmas in Canada ep if I remember right.

    I was pretty young when AD premiered but I was a day-one watcher and even at 13 I knew I was watching something special—it was almost like I knew I was too young and dumb to fully get it but there was something so magnetizing about it still. I loved rewatching it every few years and getting more and more jokes both because I got older and because you notice new little bits and references every time.

    i think it rly jumps the shark in s4 tbh. lmk what u think.

    alot of great stuff there. i watched both seasons of barry it..... is good/ok. im curious if they will switch it up in s3 or something. feels like second tier material, a 'comedy where jokes dont matter' kinda thing. similar to search party
