That's it, money. And the ability to make decisions for yourself and not have to answer to a higher power.

The UK left the EU and we were able to get a huge amount of vaccines compared to the rest of Europe who, if you look at the raw data, have each been able to vaccinate the same percentage of their population.

Has anyone managed to find confirmed information regarding how some people will have a bad reaction to the vaccine(s) & some won’t?

I’ve heard conflicting anecdotal information but wasn’t backed up by peer data. People will say a bad reaction occurs when you’ve previously had COVID, other people say it’s if your immune system is weak, some even say the opposite.

Just wondering if anyone’s more clued up on this?

I've heard so much hearsay. My brother was convinced if you've had Covid (even unknowingly) then your first shot will be s--- as your body knows what to fight.
If you haven't had Covid then your first shot will be fine and the second will be s--- as only then will your body know what to fight.

I've had 2 shots of Phizer and no symptoms other than a sore arm on both occasions. I felt tired the day after the second one but that also coincided with my return to work after 5 months of sat on my arse. So more likely to just be a shock to the system of working again.

Although, I'm young/middle aged and healthy for the most part so my immune system is going to be better than most. But that's ultimately what it comes down to, how good or bad someone's immune system is.

This is the strange thing. I’ve had people that are incredibly healthy (fitness/diet) tell me they were bedridden for days & then others that eat absolute garbage & don’t exercise come out the other side not phased.

I feel like with at least some people there’s a different or maybe another added determining factor. I guess the science will eventually be concluded.

Nobody even a bit worried about possible adverse effects of the vaccines?

    Y'all trust these big pharma's?

I'm not an anti-vaccine person but these vaccines have been rushed out of labs. Who knows if all the kinks have been worked out yet. If they discovered bloot clots with Astrazeneca there's still a potential for them to discover other stuff down the line...

Anyway, with that being said, I set an appointment to get mine in 2 weeks :emoji_sweat_smile:. Been thinking about it and since I have asthma and generally not in the best shape, I don't feel like testing my chances against Covid. It's probably less risky to get the shot than catching the virus.

Still, I find it a bit surprising to see everyone here have 100% faith in them. Usually it's a mixed bag.

The difference is the Pandemic really. I never get the annual flu shot or anything like that's because life is moving at 100 miles an hour.

Vaccine to me isn't about protecting myself, it's about doing everything possible to move back to "normal". I don't care if I get the virus, I'll prob feel s--- for a few days and it'll pass. What I do mind though is being told to sit at home without going outside for 10 days and the loss of earnings from not being allowed to work.

Is there a source for anything in that infographic?

I don't trust big pharma to always have our best interests in mind, but I do trust vaccines. Those ideas don't have to be at odds with each other...like what would big pharma's evil plan be with the vaccine (at least, in the USA where it's free)? It's not like opioids or benzos where they can get us addicted to have us as customers for life.

Ya'll should watch The Crime of the Century doc on HBO—it's sickening. d-ck Cheney levels of depraved.

Well that's my point. If you, yourself don't even believe they have our best interest in mind, how can you be so sure the vaccines they provide are 100% safe?

At the end of the day it's all about money.

    You wanted sources.

Just some of Pfizers greatest hits..

But like I said, i'm not an anti vaccine person. I'm just surprised at everyone having so much faith in them when all of this is still pretty new.

And you got people in this thread calling the ones who don't want to get vaccinated idiots...

Sure people who are against all vaccines are idiots. But it's not like these covid vaccines have been out and tested for years. I think people who don't want to get it have a perfectly valid reason not to.

@Wreckless THANK YOU, you said all I wanted but wasn't able to cause my poor english.

My point was and is... i'm not an antivaxx guy, I took all of my vaccines before but I simply don't trust this one. This virus isn't as lethal as media say it is, so I just skip my vacc.

Well, in medicine nothing is ever 100% safe. There's virtually always a risk of side effects because everyone's body chemistry is different, and you and your doctors have to decide if the risk outweighs the rewards. With vaccines, the reward greatly outweighs the risk in most cases.

Trust me, I'm well aware that pharmaceutical companies have done lots of terrible things, I only asked for sources on that infographic because infographics without sources often contain misleading information. For example, it says Moderna has never brought an approved vaccine to the public...but Moderna has only been a company for around 10 years. Considering most vaccines take 10-15 years of research and trials, that shouldn't really be a point against them. I suppose you could take that as them being not experienced enough, but with regard to the COVID vaccine, you have to realize two things:

    1. They didn't start from scratch in 2020. Scientists have been studying coronaviruses for 50+ years and had been working on vaccines for other coronaviruses for a long time as well.
    2. The entire world was collaborating on this. Like we were collaborating with Cuban doctors, and our government tells us we should hate Cuba every day lol.

And obviously this is anecdotal, but one of my good friends literally worked on making the vaccine at Moderna. If the people who are making the vaccine are confident enough in it to take it themselves, that's good enough for me.

It's less about protecting yourself and more about protecting the populace at large. But you already had COVID so you probably have antibodies anyway.

My question though: what are you afraid of happening if you were to get the vaccine?

Dying, I'm more scared of this vaccine than the virus itself, I've seen online a lot of young (30-50 yo) people die after getting the vaccine so... And this vax won't even prevent anybody from getting sick, dying or whatever, so what's the point of getting vaccinated with experimental s--- that was made in couple of months? It's just pointless to me. I never got vaccinated for a flu and guess what, I'm still here and if I remember correctly, CDC said COVID isn't even as bad as flu or they're equaly bad. You can call me whatever you want, but I'm not stupid enough to get vaccinated with s--- I don't trust at all. And I had the d--- disease and beat it like a champ, so I don't even need the vax at this point.

    Plus, f--- Bill Gates
