    Any audiophiles in the house?

Did Em ever record in analog, or only digital? If this is the case, aren’t the vinyls only the digital masters from CD printed on vinyl?

Analog on SSLP and MMLP, then digital from TES on

    Going Digital
Surprisingly, it wasn't until Eminem's fourth album, The Eminem Show (2002), that Dre and Elizondo made use of digital recording. Elizondo gives the lowdown on why they stuck with analogue for so long. "The first two Eminem records we worked on, The Slim Shady LP [1999] and The Marshall Mathers LP [2000], were recorded to two-inch analogue, basically for sonic reasons. Sound quality is really important for Dre, and he's extremely in tune with how things fit in a track. I learned a lot from watching him and the attention to detail he has — the amount of time he can spend on just getting a snare or a bass drum sound. But once Pro Tools stepped up their game in terms of sonic quality with the 192 audio interfaces and HD, we began using that, mainly because of the speed with which you can work.”

Wow digital recordings were a thing since the late 80s.

In this case I suspect the first vinyl press of SSLP and MMLP are the goat and then the CD version should be good.

Now I wonder why CC2 has a different sound to the songs (as people said they aren’t so loud) since they come from the same digital master.

Maybe they were remastered from scratch?

    Was SSLP20 digitally remastered?

The recent resurgence of vinyl and cassette popularity shows me that physical media isn’t going to die off nearly as soon as most people thought it would.

yup. It’s just that since the 2000 there are no more analog recordings. Maybe analog mastering. So cd=vinyl. Meaning it’s just a collection item.

Also, I believe songs used on compilations have to be remastered because they come from various sources and the sequencing of the tracklist is different from where they originally were. The quality has to be consistent

I think they just EQ and normalize them at the same level. Don't think they are remastered per se.

I want to know that too. All that it says on the vinyl is that it's "2019 UMG Recording"
And for that matter - does it mean that buying the current MMLP vinyl that's being sold today would have the original (analog) recording?

From what I’ve read on vinyl mastering is that they master the music for Vinyl specifically, something about hi and low frequencies dictate how the grooves are cut.. so idk if they are the same masters. I’ve been thinking about having my own vinyl cut of Eminem bootlegs and b-sides. I guess I will find out when I send them a bunch of digital files
