This is not a troll thread

i been thinking about this for months, and its time, i have decided to step down as the forum owner and the main admin of the site..i will still be around as a member or whatever..i will stick around

i wanna thank everyone who stuck with me in the last decade running forums, i am so so so tired...hopefully the new owner @fugazi will keep the forum afloat for years to come

i am proud of this mod, it was the hardest mod we did to date, we hit alot of road bumps that was solved

anyway, this was inspired by the Drake-Meek beef...it seems every day there was a thread i missed with 600 posts...and going through them was a b----...so i thought, and i came up with...Express Mode

every thread will have a button called "Express Mode"...hitting it will change this

every page will have 300 posts ... they will read super easy like a chat...S80 wins again, f--- it n----- lets evolve

when me and @Mike Tyson started this forum..we had one vision..to be the biggest rap forum...and im happy with the progress we made in the last few months, but im not just happy with the growth...im happy with the community .. and i have decided that i will actively start sending out gifts to our members starting this Xmas....i will be sending one gift each holiday after that...the reason im not gonna give this award earlier, is to give members chance to turn things around if they wanna be the winner

i will personally send a PS4 or XBone on 2015 Xmas to our best member

On christmas, we will set up a poll where you can vote for the best member. What makes a member good? Quality posts, good behavior and a positive force in the forum. The Winner will receive a PS4 from sxn80 as a christmas present and as a thank you for contributing

The 4 admins will have the final say, we will 95% send the PS4 to the winner unless we felt someone clearly deserved it more and it was biased

so me, your great admin was thinking...why so much good threads go unnoticed ...then i thought...because everybody use the latest posts feature

then i thought...could i do it...could i, change the forum game.....

i present, QUICK FORUMS...we will have these sexy tabs (actually @Slyk @Loyalty pls make them sexy)..where i control sections assigned to each node..forum tab will show you the normal forum


then what will the other tabs show?

yup...."all" tab will show latest posts in threads


music will show all new threads in music sxns


but but koolo, we loved the idea of adding our own sxns in multiview

Welcome to Section Eighty 2.0
What started as a profile overhaul project ended up morphing in to an overhaul of the entire design. Ironically, the profiles ended up being one of the few things that we didn't touch at all. The philosophy behind the design was very basic - innovate and simplify. Over the past year, 1.0 morphed from something very basic to something feature heavy. While each new feature was meant to add value to the experience here, what ended up happening was that we turned 1.0 in to something that was very bloated and fragmented. With 2.0, our intention was to marry these features and build something more streamlined - a forum in which our custom modifications felt like they naturally belonged. While we are no where close to done with this project, we're proud to say that it is far enough along to release publicly. So with that said, welcome to Section Eighty 2.0.

New Features and Changes
While there are some surprises that we'll let you discover as you use the site, here are a few of the major changes:

• Design overhaul: The site's design is now more streamlined and simplified. Issues of bloating are now all addressed. Every inch of the new design was given a lot of thought.
• Portal: The portal is a work in progress still, and we'll learn to make it better as we continue to use it. The portal is a place where all of our major features are married on one page, somewhere where you can quickly access everything that matters to you. Re-upload your avatar with a 700x700 picture to enjoy the high-quality image in your portal.

• Featured Threads: Our featured threads are now built in to our sidebar in place of what used to be our user info spot. Because an actual mod was developed for this, you should see these being updated more frequently so that you know exactly what you've missed, even if you've only got 10 minutes to browse.

• Most Liked: You can now see everyone's most liked posts as well as post liked threads. Click to view the profile of the member whose most liked content you wish to see, and hit the most liked tabs on the far right.

• Day/Night switch: for those who do enjoy using both the day and night themes, you can now toggle between them easily by hitting the switch on the top left.

• Dropdown user panel: Credit goes to able for suggesting this. The dropdown user panel has been simplified and cleaned up. Previously there were close to 20 links on here. Now there are the 10 most important ones with the rest available through the settings button. Also, you can now edit your user title straight from the dropdown by clicking on it.

• Bookmarking: you can now bookmark any post and save it in to your User CP. You can view these bookmarks by accessing the dropdown user panel on the top navigation, or you can insert them directly in to a new post by clicking the star icon under the quick reply box.

• Post bit: From the start, we've always been obsessed with the post bit. How do we best minimize it while still giving users the opportunity to really personalize and own it? What we did was dumb it down and add functionality at the same time. You can now see all of the users posts, see all of his/her likes, see the user's profile, and quickly PM the user all by hovering over his/her avatar. In addition, we tried to bring prominence to the user title and really make it a part of the post bit, not just an after thought like it was previously. We will never have signatures on sxn80, but this should address some of that void. The profile overhaul is still coming though, and signatures will be available there so you can immortalize your favourite quotes from your least favourite posters.

• Live Activity: Live activity has been updated and reworked for 2.0. By clicking the live activity tab on the home page, you can see a real-time stream of what's happening on SXN80.

• Jump back to section: This isn't a new feature, but just something worth mentioning as it's easy to miss. We cleaned up the header on the thread/forum views. So now to go back to the section you are browsing, click the circular icon next to the thread name.

Final Thoughts
Thank you @Slyk and @Loyalty for allowing me to step back and create. But more importantly, thank you for taking my designs and turning them in to reality. A designer like me you can find anywhere. But coders like you guys are rare, and we’re blessed as a team to have you. It comes to no surprise that the one thing I didn’t come up with the design for is my favourite thing visually in 2.0 - the thread tags. Great job with that Slyk. And Loyalty, thank you for letting us think up functionality and then delivering every time. The new user title changer from the dropdown is brilliant man, and liking posts have never been so satisfying. Last but not least, @Koolo thank you for being a mentor, an older brother, and continuing to stick with the site when real life had be away from it. No doubt there will be weeks in the future when I’m not here, and no doubt you’ll still be here holding it down.

Note: this was supposed to be rolled out with 2.0 in the next 2 weeks..but the coder will be travelling for a month and i had to roll it out today

Live feed...what is it?


what does it do?


it will show you feed of everything that is happening on the forum..it will auto load every few seconds without you needing to refresh the page...it will also allow you to like posts from the homepage without moving..and when you click reply you will open a reply page (in few weeks we will introduce a pop up box from homepage to reply)
Note: auto load is disabled for guests...sign up c----

but koolo, i dont care who liked what...or who posted a status..i just want posts feed...
say no more n----s, click on your account preference and only pick posts

as you know, by end of Nov SXN80 2.0 will be launched...the first part is here..Leaks 2.0

when we made Leaks, we made one big mistake..we didnt automate the following of future album releases...so we changed the entire mod, and now you dont follow albums, you follow artists..as well as we introduced news...following artists will now make you follow any future album we add to the DB automatically..as well as any news we write about the artist
Example
you following Eminem, 2 months later Eminem announced "Roots"...Roots will be added to your account automatically you dont have to do anything

clicking the new "join user groups"...open this page


you can join any of these groups..now what do they do? if you join a group..you can tag it by adding @ infront of the group name...for example @KendrickSXN ... and ONLY members of that group can use it..and can get alerts for it

Important Note: if we get reports about abuser, lets say one group has 20 members... and 15 members want a member out for abusing the group by tagging it over and over for no reason..he will be removed from the group...now if 1 or 2 report him...their request will be ignored...pls lets be adults here

oh...also you can leave any group you join without mods request...just go to that page and pick "leave usergroup"

At inception, Section Eighty had 3 admins: Koolo, Hasman, & myself. Over time, that list has dwindled and there’s a significant amount of effort required to keep the site going on the backend, leaving me w/ limited time to tend to some of the things that matter most to many of you…

I’m happy to announce that @Donkey Kong Country will be joining me as site admin and filling that void moving forward.

The decision was easy and is a pretty big change that’s been in-progress for the last few weeks. He’s in the process of shaking some things up behind the scenes right now that I’m pretty excited about, and will be revealed to the masses very shortly.


Please give him a welcome

i noticed a lot of people got massive PMs going for stuff that shouldnt be posted in public, which is cool and all..but annoying notis

so i created private which requires a pass to enter, post in this thread if you want access to private and you will be PM'ed the pass if you are a good member

DO NOT SHARE THE PASS WITH ANYONE, ONLY STAFF ALLOWED TO SHARE THE PASS

posts there will not appear in sidebar nor new posts, use the forum for stuff you shouldnt share in public

here you can add whatever forums you visit a lot, say i like Em and Kdot..and i do like a bit of OT...then i click save changes...doing this will basically create one big forum customized based on your options...this new forum will have all threads from these forums in one place...you can go to your new forum by clicking here



you can remove or add or whatever from clicking multiview from your account or just simply from here

the app for apple will be out in a week or two

now, i want to explain why we decided to move away from @JFK design and link the app to the mobile interface directly.. me and @Mike Tyson were talking and realized we will get f----- in the long run cuz no one can edit the app to add new features..etc

so we decided, to link the app to the mobile interface (plus our own push notifications)..THEN edit the mobile interface to make it very light and fast.and more, "appy"..with the new approach everything we edit to the mobile interface will be edited on the app..also we will add things to app like dashboard always on deck and other things with time

the push notifications i enabled is mentions/quotes/leaks/news/posts on your profile

i will also add push notifications to the user side in the future

to be fixed:
1- alerts on "icon" on desktop became a bit clunky

2- push notification doesnt take you directly to the post
3- add loading processor
4- clicking any img such as "banner" or "new reply" or "smiley box"
take you out of the app
ok img clicking bug fixed, "clear your app data" or wait till i update it globally ... but if you want quick fix just clear your data
also people who downloads the app..give us some stars yo
5- add user settings for push notifications/sounds
6- sometime you need to double tap for the action to happen

double tap bug is fixed, pls go to settings and clear your data for instant fix, or wait a day or two for automatic fix

SXN80 is back with another feature to make your viewing better...now in homepage, when you hover on sections...there is this new icon that looks like thunder


if you hover over it, it will show you the thread with the most posts in that sxn in the last 8 hours


if you click it...you go to the thread....and with that...our other "hottest threads" column on the left will now go to calculate threads based on 7 days rotations

on November , we are launching something huge ... expect to be hard
