    Dubs are typically westernised, references to more obscure parts of Japanese culture and inherently Japanese figures of speech are taken out or changed to make it palatable to an English speaking audience.

    There’s also no standard when it comes subs, you could watch the same episode three times from three different subgroups and get varying translations.

    but nah it's only 5 years after the movie, the significance of the girl is so Chika can come to the realisation that chasing after μ's and trying to be like them is childish and she needs to follow her own path

    Wake Up, Girls is very good. It’s mostly a series of movies and is not only a great idol anime in its own right but is also a pretty refreshing deconstruction/commentary on the irl anime industry with a lot of thinly veiled shots at real companies.
    There’s Idolm@ster too which is okay, but there’s a whole f---ing lot of it and it’s easy to get burnt out on.
