    With the low turnout at trump’s rally they could have easily and safely social distanced but instead they all decided to not wear masks and crowded the hotdog stand while coughing on each other

    It is disingenuous to conflate “protesters” from 5 years ago with anything currently happening. If you dehumanize people for their political opinions, and act on that by physically assailing them, you are dogshit. That was my point - 5 years ago.

    The current insurgence of (Sometimes) violent resistance is a completely different story. If I haven’t made it clear, I support everything I’m currently seeing.

    Beating up Trump supporters and throwing eggs at women and children in MAGA hats didn’t stop Trump from getting elected. Aggressively resisting against police brutality on unarmed black people is resulting in the system being shaken up. I’d like to think it’s because one cause is completely different from the other.

    You can have it both ways. The cop acted on fear which and this proves more police training is very crucial. However, this is in no way a "racist cop killed unarmed black man" situation. The cop was rightfully scared and felt his life was in danger. Its been said many times, we don't know if his gun was next. But no he did not deserve to die and its a real shame this happens. Not race-related though.

    also if anyone is wondering about CHAZ—while I don't live in Seattle anymore I still know a lot of people who live there and everyone I know who's been to CHAZ says it's basically just a concentration of protesters. They screen documentaries, have guest speakers, and provide a bunch of free food and drinks and there's like a farmer's market basically. I'm sure most people here aren't getting their news from places like fox and msnbc but it's not this violent mad max wasteland that regular media is sensationalizing it to be lol. It's just regular a--- capitol hill s--- but with an abandoned police precinct. Raz Simone isn't a "warlord" he's just a local rapper who's been a big part of the BLM movement there who was caught on tape punching someone for vandalizing a small business.

    Biden is up +8.1 in the RCP average right now. Rolling out police reform that consists of throwing more money at police departments for things like body camera rather than #defundthepolice is politically, a lot more safer. That being said, I think his reforms are simply slapping a bandaid on a much larger issue.

    There’s limited action the federal government can take on this issue anyways though. Much of the action needed to be taken has to be at the state/local level.
