Oct 19, 2022 timestammped. "when you look at 8 mile, you're seeing a black story with a white lead... you're seeing poverty" ...Lol. what is America's delusion and obsession with acting like only black people are poor? So he seriously thinks there's no poor white people? How ridiculous. I'm white. I grew up poor. Being poor or growing up poor is not a black thing or a 'black story. It's just his story. Every time I see a black rapper mention him, even in praise, they always have to mention his race. He was a f---ing genius who impacted the world. I've dated a lot of women from Africa, and know a lot of guys from Africa; they all LOVE Eminem, he's huge there (in fact thee most streamed artist in Africa!). As he is in many predominantly non-white countries (I know Africa is not a country, I'm making a separate statement) around the world. He's huge in f---ing... Mexico for example. Does Eminem look Mexican to you? Or f---ing Chinese? What's your excuse there? People don't listen to f---ing music and go 'OMG I LOVE HIM CAUSE HE'S MY RACE!', otherwise every top rapper in the Western world would be white. Theyyy ain't. Eminem is Eminem because he's Eminem. Not because he's white. Lose Yourself, MMLP, Stan, Till I Collapse... THAT was (I should clarify was. He ain't that anymore) why. America is just obsessed. All these guys who say this s--- are really dumb for not being able to ever notice some of these very obvious points in direct conflict with their idea of why Eminem, or mostly why he was huge.
Oct 19, 2022 But 8 Mile isn't just about being poor. It's about a white guy who's friends with a bunch of black guys and wants to become a rapper. How many poor whiite people did you know wanted to be a rapper in the early 90s?
Oct 19, 2022 bruh who are you kidding, we all know eminem only [insert accomplishment here] because he’s white
Oct 19, 2022 Have you seen white people in US movies? they all live with their happy family, two big cars and all types of breakfast
Oct 19, 2022 That's not what he said. Taken in context, he actually implied the opposite: "I think a part of Eminem's legacy is the growth of our culture. People wouldn't buy it if people didn't see what they fit into it" (@ 23:17). He's not saying there are no poor white people, but that Eminem used his own story as a white guy who grew up in a poor black hood in order to sell black/hip hop culture to the white masses, who in many cases otherwise might not have bought it, especially if the lead of 8 Mile were black. He's not wrong, at least as far as Eminem's legacy goes: 'Cause we done swam with the sharks, wrestled with alligators Spoke to a generation of angry teenagers Whom if it wasn't for rap to bridge the gap maybe raised to be racist Who may have never got to see our faces
Apr 18, 2023 Eminem’s race gets brought up because you forgot or where not old enough to actually remember how BIG that was when Dr Dre signed him . Eminem made the biggest dint in Racism our generation will ever see
