Me thinks he shouldn’t have downplayed the threat of the virus for months & rejected advise from members of his government trying to ready the country for what was to come.

The medical supply shortage, especially in terms of PPE equipment, ventilators, etc. was all a result of the Trump administration sitting on its hands early on in the pandemic. Trump labeled COVID a national emergency on 3/20/20, over 2 months after he was first informed by his intelligence agency of the threat/spread of COVID.

Going into March 2020, instead of actually taking the reins of the situation, Trump was more concerned with altering COVID data to make it look more favorable for himself:




The Trump administration consistently failed to meet benchmarks they would set in order to “reopen the economy:”




Trump began to champion drugs that had no benefit in combating COVID-19:, including a suggestion that people inject themselves with disinfectant:




Again, everything about Trump’s initial response to COVID was an unmitigated disaster. It’s all been documented.

there was really only two days in between the WHO and locking down to that point

i’d also like to know if you (because it seems the article you posted implies this) believe closing the economy would have directly impacted covid deaths..

covid itself was not a secret..if people left the house during or post lockdown, it was on their on their own volition and knew they risked catching covid..some people treated it like a cold, others the plague

what i’m having trouble with is the expectation that anything could have been different when this virus was purposely leaked from a lab in wuhan during election year..allll that russia collusion talk but biden and china look more complicit (if you ask me)

On the 25th January WHO released a statement noting that "the Time is now to 'act as one'" in fighting the virus.

WHO declared the virus was a Public Health Emergency of International Concern on the 30th January, documented cases were already spreading throughout the world, including in the US & Trump was notified by multiple intelligence agencies repeatedly. WHO advised "all countries should be prepared for containment, including active surveillance, early detection, isolation and case management, contact tracing and prevention of onward spread of 2019-nCoV infection, and to share full data with WHO."

I personally believe WHO didn’t act fast enough, never mind the US. The lack of action is what allowed the virus to spread as far & as fast as it did which reduces the ability to drum up the pandemic response, from economic measures, to PPE, to ventilation systems, to vaccines etc.

Which is why the State has to get involved, people can’t be trusted to make the right decisions during a global pandemic, especially the ones that think everything is an affront to their “muh freedoms” — the State has the resources: scientists, medical experts, facilities, capital etc to fight it rather than your illiterate uncle that uses reactionary Facebook memes or the Joe Rogan Experience as his source of information. Individualism is the cancer that’s plaguing this (not flat) earth.

This would make more sense if all the actions of China didn’t show that they were in fact completely blindsided & forced to play catch up…

The difference is, one’s a member of a forum, & one’s a president of a country leading over 300 million people during a global crisis where people are dying en masse.
