This dramatic increase in US production happened because the Democratic candidate (Obama) defeated the Republican candidate (McCain) in 2008.

In the 2000s Oil Companies concentrated on the Middle East and didn't produce in America. Which was their forever plan.

They planned to pay oil workers in Iraq $5,000 a year and Texans roughnecks to work at Walmart.

The oil workers who you know who are worried Biden and Harris are going to shut down ExxonMobil and make their son trans don't have a grip on reality and bought into some really debunkable propaganda.

Hopefully they don't start murdering Democrats with their AR15s.

There is a Pro-Worker and Pro-Boss party in America... the Pro-Boss company has done a better job confusing the workers than the Pro-Worker party has done getting their word out.

There really is no reason to support the American Republican party.

Billionaires and Millionaires think they should because the Republicans will f--- over poor people and give them tax breaks...

But even then, the net worth of millionaires and billionaires drastically rose under Clinton and Obama and dramatically fell under Bush43... and now America is at huge econimic disadvantage to the rest of the world under Trump.

Billionaires who demand a huge tax break have the same illness as hoarders who fill their home with useless garbage they don't need.

I get what ur saying, whataboutism is a cancer on al political discourse not just American, but that’s not what I’m doing here. I understand the need to clarify and emphasize that point, but what I am saying is some people here are not at liberty to consider anything other than immediate short term consequences, and those will play out better under trumps plans here (imo)

one of the boys from c-m Town had a pretty good bit on this, talking about how the Obama admin behaved like an episode of west wing, waiting for republicans to have their big “this is what we want” meeting point.

looking back at the narrative being pushed by the GOP at the time it seems blatantly obvious all they wanted to do was stonewall Obama, and brushing off the impact that the PRESIDENTs negligence did while making comments about how these exploited under educated middle Americans should just “know better” seems a bit doublethink-y to me

read the piece. There’s certainly an arrogance or naïveté at play to an extent on Obama’s fault, he likely misjudged the moment under tough circumstances , but this is mostly about optics or communications. In terms of good intentions or making government work Or even have functional policy goals for normal families, the choice is clear and it isn’t close.
I think speaking of complicity , people - largely online and apparently self taught - need to recognize their own culpability, how their views have been formed by misinformation or hive mind rabbit holes. This notion “hmmmm maybe trump this democrats that” verges on false equivalence and ignores how complex s--- plays in real time. IMO

Recommend u read this in case u are interested in Obama’s pov on how difficult and unpopular decisions get made to help everyday Americans. It isn’t pretty but it’s frequently noble, especially when u realize how misguided and destructive the opposition is:

Thwse are complicated issues to be sure

Trump is about to get throttled and he will have a one way ticket to Rikers Island courtesy of SDNY the moment he's out of office.

@FiveOh1 went from Bernie to Jo Jorgansenn lol... like yes, go from the candidate who wants to reign in big business to the candidate who wants unmitigated corporatism

That wasn’t quite the exchange. It was just why he purposefully snubbed Biden on an otherwise progressive ballot. But let’s talk about energy, bc I certainly hear you and totally get your pov. The fact is biden has made great strides and risked a lot politically by threading the needle he has on oil and fracking. What he purposes I think, is the reality, which I can speak to from my irl work w energy companies. Sustainability isn’t going away, it’s not just “better for the environment” (appealing to people’s moralism, as leftists do) bur increasingly its the right economic choice - more affordable, more efficient, better jobs. It’s not just progressive startups doing this- major oil conglomerates are getting in the business in a major way. So a transition, as Biden proposes, isn’t merely the right thing, it’s what is happening and what needs to happen for the US to remain energy independent. So let’s maintain the status quo, don’t throw the baby out w the bathe water while keeping an eye to the future

Texas is increasingly purple as u know, and every vote counts. Thinking otherwise, or thinking Biden is out to destroy anyone’s livelihood, simply isn’t the case

Nah I wasn’t on either side, I thought Trump running was funny but I voted third party in 2016. I live in a historically blue state so it didn’t matter anyways.
