Oct 31, 2020that being said f--- Trump there’s a million reasons not to vote for him, if I didn’t live here and see how it affects us first hand I wouldn’t be saying anything to the contrary. but it’s not as simple as that and hopefully by 2024 ppl will realize how important catering to working class is

Haven’t read any of this thread yet, haven’t personally decided who I’m voting for. Was speaking with SL about it yesterday and saw/heard mention of ppl surprised ppl down in Texas aren’t making the “never Trump” vote, and ima just be honest:
If u live along the gulf coast in tx/la and ur not voting red you’re shooting yourself in the foot. The only party that’s consistently appeased the petrochemical industry is the GOP, and in the grand scheme of things I absolutely wouldn’t support that vote if I didn’t live here, but I do, and the proposal of asking some of the most exploited working class members I know to forego their financial security whenever that is literally the only thing keeping Houston’s economy from becoming another Detroit, seems a bit ludicrous. The entire motif behind leftism, and even the more per formative liberalism, is that helping others and making the status quo better is the right thing to do. With as much as a vote for biden is simply pure damage control, and with how one of the areas that would suffer most would be mine, it adds an interesting layer of nuance. It’s why Trump campaigned in the appalachians and middle America.
what the GOP has realized, that many leftists haven’t, is that appeals to impoverished areas’ wallets will do far more wonders than any lip service about civil reform, or economic reform that explicitly cuts back on the petro/energy industries without pushing for a viable alternative.Ordinary Joel, Sign Language, RetiredAccount and 2 others like this. -

I don't know if it's the same everywhere but they might tell you to cover it up or go home and change cuz in a lot of places you're not allowed to wear anything political when you vote just as a precaution for voter intimidation/suppression/etcLil Squeed, Ordinary Joel, Enigma and 2 others like this. - May 9, 2026

Trump’s odds of winning are down to 10% via 538 & 5% via the economist. Biden has slipped a tiny bit in national polls but has gained in state polls in the final week. No sign that this race is tightening whatsoever.Ordinary Joel, lil uzi vert stan, RetiredAccount and 2 others like this. -

Jet was captioning his ig photos with “happy Juneteenth” & retweeting MLK’s son + Bernie Sanders in the summer. Now he’s here defending a comic book villain of a president who thinks BLM is a terrorist organization & tear gassed protesters in front of the White House for a photo op. He undoubtedly deserves to be made fun of for this lol.Last edited: Oct 29, 2020Ordinary Joel, asvdawg, Goku187 and 2 others like this. - May 9, 2026

c'mon lol, "I can't convince you" is so clearly a cop-out. If you have proof of Obama's foreign money, let's see it!
the reason you aren't providing it isn't because I'm too unreasonable. It's because it's a thing you read somewhere that you choose to believe because it validates your views, but you don't have any evidence to convince othersOrdinary Joel, RetiredAccount, DKC and 2 others like this. -

@Jet✞ you know I'm with you on many criticisms of the democratic party, but I don't see how a lot of this stuff can apply to the democrats while not applying (and then some) to the republicans.Ordinary Joel, asvdawg, dkdnfbdjdkdddjdjfvcgfl and 2 others like this.May 9, 2026(This ad goes away when signing up) -

Unlikely that it matters, especially this late in the race. Biden campaign has a much bigger war chest which they’re gonna hammer away with ads + Obama going around the country. COVID cases are rising across rural America. Trump will probably have ~10-15% chance to win this thing come Election Day which is something but significantly less likely than the chance he had in 2016 (28%). To put this in perspective: flipping a coin 3 times & getting heads 3 times in a row has about a 12.5% chance of happening.
Of course this is all assuming fair[ish] & free elections. Voter suppression isn’t taken into account in election models. So you could argue Trump’s actual probability of winning is higher depending on the degree of voter suppression & in which states.Ordinary Joel, lil uzi vert stan, DKC and 2 others like this.
