    There’s nothing I can recall in U.S. history to compare to that kind of scenario. If Pence became front-runner, I imagine it would simply be too late in the election cycle. The election is a month away. Americans are already voting. Mike Pence is a known figure but he’s known in association to Trump. I don’t think many Americans would change their vote choice if Mike Pence became the front runner. In fact, you may see a loss of enthusiasm in the Republican base (Pence isn’t exactly the character Trump is) if he became the front runner. Having to change your party’s ticket this close to the election is never good news because voters don’t like uncertainty.

    There’s a lot of grey area involved here—that’s why people are rightfully worried. We’ve never had a predicament where a president seemingly refuses to leave office or challenges the validity of an election. Trump has a lot of power within his office & he has surrounded himself with loyal yes-men like Attorney General William Barr who have proven to do his bidding. If he were to send federal troops to polling places or something on election night, no one knows what would happen.

    @Alchemist34’s post was spot on earlier. Is it appropriate today? No. But Biden comes from a time period where being affectionate toward children was largely socially acceptable. My whole issue is people using this to try to paint Biden as a pedo or something. Like...he’s doing these things in front of live cameras/public gatherings. There’s quite obviously no malicious intent here. Nonetheless, he should stop & he’s publicly stated that he’s working on trying to be more respectful of people’s space. It’s just a cultural/generational thing.
