    Pandering never stops and yet he somehow was able to fail at it sounding good lol. That's why I don't like this stupid culture that will make any innocent statement like that sound racist (coming from either side), when the guy is clearly thanking for sacrifices of ordinary people. I feel like he shot himself in the foot, cause of mentioning race.

    Polls for the president this past week have been pretty brutal. The trifecta of his poor debate performance + contracting COVID + being sent to the hospital has him losing ground.

    Before debate:
    Biden +7 nationally
    75% chance of winning electoral college (via FiveThirtyEight)

    Now:
    Biden +8 nationally
    81% chance of winning electoral college (via FiveThirtyEight)

    it’s insane that this is the case but most legal scholars agree that... no one really knows. to the extent that “obviously pence would be the republican runner” is not even necessarily true.

    Very unlikely imo. When you vote for a president you vote for a ticket acknowledging that if something happens to the head of the ticket, the VP candidate would head the ticket. Same concept when if something happens to the president, VP fills in. In that hypothetical, it’d be interesting to see though if Pence would select a VP candidate or just finish out the campaign solo. Ballots have already been sent out & casted so replacing Trump’s name on the ballot is out of the question.

    There’s nothing I can recall in U.S. history to compare to that kind of scenario. If Pence became front-runner, I imagine it would simply be too late in the election cycle. The election is a month away. Americans are already voting. Mike Pence is a known figure but he’s known in association to Trump. I don’t think many Americans would change their vote choice if Mike Pence became the front runner. In fact, you may see a loss of enthusiasm in the Republican base (Pence isn’t exactly the character Trump is) if he became the front runner. Having to change your party’s ticket this close to the election is never good news because voters don’t like uncertainty.
