    the west is doing the air strikes and letting the kurds do the ground fighting, because the west is shrewd and cowardly
    the US probably won't put boots on the ground now because Russia and Iran beat them to it and they can't be seen fighting alongside their 'enemies'

    U.S. has special forces on the ground and Russia has boots on the ground? Source? I thought they were strictly providing air support for Assad.

    I thought Russia committed ground troops during the joint assault on Aleppo however I misread the article. regardless the US won't work in cooperation with Russia and Iran

    I don't consider the advisors 'boots on the ground', by that measure Canada has ground troops in Iraq

    Lesser of two evils. I'm not condoning his actions at all. If they do overthrow him I want them to have a solid plan for stability. The situation is complicated because of Putin's allegiance with Assad.
