@Cyreides I'm not knocking your life I'm just saying I've learned more about myself and life from my time in college than I've learned in all 4 years at high school... that doesn't mean my time at high school was "wasted", it means it formed who I am today and the decision to continue on to college. It creates structure... Don't get me wrong either countless people have proven to be successful in life without college or high school but if you think school is solely for the grades you've gotta be the biggest buffoon around. "Knowledge" is subjective but the experience isn't.

no, the experience is pretty s--- and you could be doing better things with your time. it's not the only way to build yourself as a person, and quite honestly, most people f---ing s--- at life/being a person right out of high school

when the f--- did i ever mention apprenticeships?

and i never went straight to taco bell. lmfao @ this s---, swear to god it's the default knee jerk reaction from any of you to bring up that place as if it's the end all be all of me as a person and my work experience when it's not and you've no idea what the f--- you're on about.

and i'll say again, the experience is pretty s--- in high school. also, i'd bet u anything i'd count change faster than you in a heartbeat. you act as if basic math is something only those who passed through high school are capable of learning or using.

also, 100% guarantee at some point if you ever worked at a chaotic as f--- and stressful place like that you're going to end up making mistakes in the heat of the moment. but just go on thinking less of those who're unfortunate enough to have to serve your unsympathetic a---, as if you'd never make mistakes, especially in the heat of a huge never-ending rush or when you're new on the job.

    that's a s--- mindstate right there

then i'm slightly sorry for how i responded
Not everyone's time in high school is useful though, is what I'm saying. And not everyone gains what you gained from it, it can and for a lot of people will be gained elsewhere and through different experiences. I only quoted you with what I did originally to counter your black and white look on things and because it was unnecessarily condescending, which seems to be far too common when people give their opinion on things.

    :rockyhmm:

I can't knock you for not enjoying highschool because your a gay male and I can't ever relate or assume to know what that's like but I'm 90% sure that's the sole reason you didn't enjoy the experience. For everyone else, it was pretty great. You probably can count change faster than me, is that something to be proud of? I'm glad you think I'm unsympathetic when all I'm doing is elaborating that school and education isn't about what you seem to think it is.

I beat year 12 on the hardest difficulty and got an OP, just btw. But our countries are marginally different (SURPRISE!) in regards to getting a trade, especially reading what Res said. Like I don't know any tradies that finished year 12 and got an OP. When you complete year 12 in Aus, you're given a senior certificate - which helps with employment, for sure. But as far as Trades go, they don't care how smart you are, just how much they'll have to pay you and 15 yr old apprentices are the cheapest labour you could possibly hire.

I've had labor jobs that paid me better than my buddies that work at desks... yet I'm in school and still pursuing an education. Career-wise there's something for everyone I'm just trying to elaborate that school shouldn't solely be for the "grades" but I understand the reason why it would be unappealing to people if you can make $18 an hour laying concrete while your still young.

    ummm
    what?

    lmao.

m8, high school was where i was finally comfortable enough to even admit to myself i was gay, and as a result i finally came out to a few people and then eventually down the road, everyone. that literally doesn't have a thing to do with it.

    :westbrook2:

my dislike for high school is that literally none of what i learned from my time there was in anyway applicable going forward.

and also long, boring, mandatory (because otherwise eventual jail-time) 8 hour days full of annoying people and restrictions/rules, and sticking to an early bed/early as f--- wake up time (opposite my natural sleep/wake schedule) is some bs to deal with 4 years earlier than I should have to. Foh, I want to enjoy that time, it's not like school's the only thing going on, there's other s--- to do in life in that time

We can pretend that doesn't factor in? Everyone can dance to the beat of their own drum but every gay dude I've met or seen is pretty uncomfortable in school settings and most public because they feel like people don't want them around or whatever. I can't blame them for feeling that way, but you can't act like it doesn't apply to how they feel. Cyreides was probably awkward and people probably treated him like s---.

I mixed you and Coco up somehow. That reasoning you just said is the structure I'm talking about. I guess if your going for the whole "I just wanna be free" route then sure go for it Shakespeare meanwhile the rest of us got class at 7am

nobody in HS gave me s--- m8, and if they did it definitely wouldn't have been for being gay. everybody i knew was cool with me and those that knew i was gay didn't care. besides, everyone was too busy with me constantly helping them bypass restrictions on their laptops, and supplying them with games and music to give me s--- for that

that's the thing though, even then, not everyone has to be on that kind of a schedule even once you're past those 4 years. not everyone's made for it or wants it or will end up sticking to it for what they end up doing as not everything requires it.

it's a s-----y one size fits all that doesn't actually come close to fitting all or even preparing most

    Sure there's awkwarder introverted gays
But at my school one of the most popular and loved people were gay, he was charismatic partied heaps and had tonnes of friends. It can work both guys but I do get what you're saying and there is definitely struggle especially in the earlier schooling years.

There's always subtle homophobic undertones in that environment but most of the time it didn't bother me 2 much.
