Just my opinion and how I’m going about it:

Step 1 - actually getting my music to sound professional, meaning the mixes, beats, vocals, and master is all up to industry standard. No matter what genre you’re in or lyrical content, the mixes and master need to be indistinguishable in quality from a major artist.

step 2 - self promote the s--- out of your music. I’m talking at least one post a day on every social media platform you can manage. Find unique ways to gain a following outside of just posting your songs.

step 3 - save your best work and the music you really want to make for when you have a built up audience. You could have a masterpiece of an album but if you release it when you only have 100 ig followers it will be old before it can ever mean anything. Get a strong audience first and then release that masterpiece and your brand will really take off

my plan right now is to try to grow an audience as a producer while really fine tuning my musical skills in all areas. the more beat sales I make, the more time I can focus on music, the better I’ll get in all areas. Once I’ve built up up my status as a producer (hopefully 100k+ subs on YT, some industry connections from placements, and a strong follower base on social media) I will start releasing the music I actually want to make which is more than just beats. By that time I should have the skills required to be able to execute the sound I have planned to near perfection and a solid enough audience to serve as jump off point - of course I know it’s a long shot but when you really enjoy making music it’s worth it to give it a try

what I would suggest is to work with a major label mixer/mastering engineer that way mixes just sound as good as possible

    This comment is 100% true.

Also, in a roundabout way, the post above also implies that music doesn't mean s--- - it's all about the branding. Do you have clout, n-----? Do you have connections, n-----? Can you offer "favours", n-----? Can you make up sad stories about something controversial, n-----? Can you lie and lie very well, n-----?

If you answer no to all of that then you better quit n----- :emoji_innocent:
