    Headlights was one song I just couldn't get into. Gave it a few plays but it became a skip worthy song for me.

    I'm good with the theme of the song though I was a huge fan a cleaning out my closet but as some of you may have said. He's grown up now and yeh the lyrics gave me goosebumps but c'mon.. that beat? wtf. nahh. same goes for so far... good lyrics. bad beat

    Okay song, but Headlights is completely contrived emotionally. It's like they "needed" a heartfelt song, possibly just to fit in with Nate Ruess' chorus, so the mom apology made sense.

    Marshall still hates her. He refused to answer any questions Headlights/Mom related when MMLP2 came out and was barely in the Dodge commercial, I mean, music video.

    a song that was somewhat good/interesting the first time you listen to it. once the surprise is gone of him actually "forgiving" his mom, there is nothing particularly good about the song or emotional about the lyrics or delivery.
    @JFK is right, the whole thing is contrived and meant to check of a box on a list of things he felt he needed for the album, not because of some major change in his life that caused him to need to make the song
