I don’t know of any other artist on this planet who could be as strongly associated with Christmas (except for Mariah Carey). Eminem even almost died on Christmas Eve 2007, so yes, he has to release an album for Christmas, this is a very important day in his life, it's like his rebirth. Everything has to go along with it , too capture that moment. The album is mixed across his fanbase and critics at best. You got hyped because Eminem dyed his hair and continued the MMLP name, cool. Now you have to back that up with something special which he fell short in, imo.

Eminem has been involved in beefs with many names on Kamikaze and this is the only album in Eminem's career that was mostly listened to not even by Eminem fans, but by typical hip-hop listeners who were not Eminem fans before. This album has zero significance in Eminem's discography, because it is not even about Eminem, but about beefs. Worst Eminem Era. Eminem always told a story about himself, about his life, about the difficulties he went through in life, and this Kamikaze album was just for hype. This is not what the fans were expecting. One diss song was enough, not a whole diss album. He could have released EP diss in 2003 or Relapse 2 in 2009, which he did a diss on Kanye, Wayne and Rihanna, but he didn't do it then. Nobody expected a diss album from him in 2018. It was not what all fans expected from him at that moment. And this album came out too late. Berzerk was the last time Eminem hyped all fans and it was the right step for his career. Kamikaze was not the right move for his career. Everyone was shocked when he went blonde again, because after Recovery, no one else believed that he would ever be Slim Shady again. It worked 100% and all the fans talked about it then. Kamikaze was not of that caliber.

It was an evolution in the opposite direction, as if from a human he again became a monkey. Kamikaze was for the r-----ed fans of modern hip-hop. Revival was for mature people.
